Woodstock History Center Staff

WHS_Board_0059 copy Matthew Powers, Director Matt Powers is responsible for administrative and financial operations. He received his BA in American Studies from Keene State College, and a MA in American and New England Studies from the University of Southern Maine. While at grad school, Matt  worked as an educator at the Remick Country Doctor Museum & Farm. Later, he was Director of the Sandwich Historical Society and then Executive Director of the St. Johnsbury Athenaeum.

Jennie Shurtleff, Assistant Director/Education Coordinator Jennie Shurtleff is the Woodstock History Center’s Assistant Director/Education Coordinator. She is responsible for organizing and coordinating programs and events, as well as marketing and promotions. She received a B.A. from Colby-Sawyer College in American Studies, an A.M. from Brown University in American Civilization, and a M.A. from Castleton College in Curriculum and Instruction. Before working at the History Center, she  worked at MacMillan/McGraw-Hill Publishing as an instructional designer.

 Becky Talcott - Office Administrator - Woodstock History Center Becky Talcott, Office Administrator/Collections Manager Becky Talcott is responsible for membership coordination and collections. She holds a BA from Colby College in history and an MBA from the University of Dallas. Before joining the History Center’s staff, Becky worked for 30 years at GTE in business and regulatory policy.




Charlie Degener, Archivist Charlie Degener, the History Center’s archivist, is responsible for overseeing and maintaining the Center’s library and archives. He holds a BA from Champlain College and a MA from the University of Vermont. In addition to his work at the History Center, Charlie is also the Assistant Town Clerk for the Town of Woodstock.
